How to

How to secure your cable/wire to the PowerShell

There are two ways to use a ty-wrap:

1. Insert the end of a ty-wrap from the inside of the shell out one of the holes in the shell, then continue threading the ty-wrap back into the shell through the other hole. Now secure the ty-wrap around the cable going into the PowerPole connector and cinch down. Cutoff the excel ty-wrap. Try to ensure that the “buckle” of the ty-wrap is to one side of the cable – this will help to not interfere with the cover snapping in place fully.

2. A second way to secure you cable is to simply place a ty-wrap around the cable. This method uses the ty-wrap as a “barrier” butts up against the urethane insert of appropriate hole size placed in the back of the PowerShell. This method works for smaller cables where the inserts are appropriate. Larger cables, AWG 10, 12, and some AWG14 cables cannot use inserts, so this method is not available. You can compare the dimensions of the inserts pass-throughs with outside dimensions of you cable to see when using inserts is appropriate

How to install an insert

Inserts have specific surface features that have corresponding “mates” on the PowerShell and can only fit one way. It may be necessary to maneuver the insert to get it in place correctly and fully seated. One approach is to, using the cut section, slip the insert around the cable and slide the insert along the cable into place. Note: If you are using ty-wrap method 2, you will want to position the ty-wrap in its final position prior the chinching immediately in front of the insert within the PowerShell.
